5 TIPS ON HOW TO DRIVE ENGAGEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

1. Ensure your brand is opinionated, allow people to either agree or disagree with you - this will get your audience thinking about the topic in question and in turn, engage with your posts by expressing their thoughts. New social algorithms are focused on conversation, so generating comments and discussion is a perfect way to improve your engagement rates.

2. Keep up to date with trending topics or breaking news and generate a reaction on the same day. Becoming part of a wider conversation is a clever way to win people over. Always try to add humour in there when you can, people want to speak to like minded people, not a robot, so why not boost your brands' personality by cracking a few jokes...

3. Focus on video content - videos are more likely to be shared in comparison to images and GIFs. Keep your videos short and sweet yet effective, the recommended duration is 1 minute or under to ensure you keep hold of the viewers' attention.

4. Competitions! Who doesn't love being in with the chance of winning a freebie? Your audience will appreciate the sentiment of a giveaway and it is sure to increase your engagement and draw more fans to your page. Beware of compers - A person who enters competitions regularly as either a hobby or a career!

5. Long form campaigns that last a month or longer are a great way to keep your audience hooked. Create a story that is closely tied to your brand or brand values. Post sections every week or two to keep people engaged in the story. By the end of your campaign you'll have an audience that joined from the start, and are more likely to stay long term.

What the Fox...

Welcome to Cunning Plans new and exciting project, ‘What The Fox’. We’re all advocates for humanising brands and illustrating personality behind the logos, so we thought why not implement this ourselves? The purpose of What The Fox is to have a laid back discussion, (perhaps debate), regarding current trends that take our interest, or simply voicing our opinions on cutting-edge happenings in the marketing world.

This week we're joined by one of our new team members, Lizzie, as she tells us a bit about her background and marketing interests.
